Wooden Toy Planes

Wooden toy planes have been popular ever since the Wright brothers made their first successful flight back in 1903. Wooden toy planes made of balsa wood are prefect for flying. Balsa wood planes are easy to build, can be put together in minutes and will provide hours of backyard entertainment.

Wooden toy planes made of balsa wood are available in a huge variety of designs. Many are based on the fighter planes used in the First and Second World War and the modern planes of today.

If you want to see your wooden toy planes go even further, then you should consider purchasing a catapult. Catapults are specifically designed for launching balsa wood planes. A catapult will throw the plane 50 to 60 feet in the air for long, soaring flights and if the wind catches your plane, it could fly for several hundred feet.

For the younger children, such adventurous flight may not be appropriate. Then, heavier wooden toy planes will be appropriate for indoor play. Unlike the balsa wood, the chunkier planes are not designed for flight; they are designed to stimulate the child’s imagination. The great thing about buying wooden toy planes rather than plastic ones is that wood has less chance of being a choking hazard to a young child. Plastic toys with intricate parts are more likely to break and cause potential damage to the child. Wooden toys are constructed of fewer pieces and the pieces that are involved in wooden toy planes tend to be larger than the plastic ones.

So let your child’s imagination soar, with a wooden toy plane.
